Calling Heavy Metal

If you've seen the WIP lineart, you'll have read that this was a random drawing borne of seeing a kickass Thor comic cover and also getting Sammy Hagar's Heavy Metal (theme song from a movie of the same name) stuck in my head.

Hindsight tells me it's not as random as it seems. Human beings are in need of epicness, and the ancient Norse gods (or Greek, or Aztec) are not so much gone as here in different forms. The lightning and thunder and poses of heroism? Still around. Acoustic rockers and stripped-down indie acts are fine & all, but the holy Valhalla remains. And it is (at least in our imaginations) as sky-high and spiked up as ever.
